Building Community Capabilities

Shared resources, policies, evidence, networks and investment: these shape the capabilities that regional Western Australian places holds in common.

In WA's regions like the Mid-West, South West, or Great Southern, old economic drivers are giving way to new ones and populations are changing. Some gaps, such as a missing standard, a lack of evidence or an unfunded opportunity, can only be tackled in these regional zones collaboratively through multi-stakeholder and multi-level approaches.

Councils, industry bodies, non-governmental organisations, volunteer groups, funders and research partners all contribute the way individual and organisational capabilities ultimately enhance community capabilities.

What we offer:

  • Capability mapping. Working with a community to identify which capabilities matter most to it, where the gaps are, and how a change in one business ripples through workers, clients and suppliers.

  • Sector standards and toolkits. Shared templates, practices and resources for a whole trade or region, so each business doesn't have to start from scratch.

  • Policy evidence and engagement. Research, briefs and pilots that give local, state and federal policymakers grounded evidence on the future of work in regional WA.

  • R&D partnerships. Collaborations with researchers, engineers and designers on the questions our streams raise, from smart water to first responder systems.

  • Co-investment and co-sponsorship. Backing collective opportunities with our own time, expertise and capital, alongside public and private partners.

Who we work with: local governments and regional development bodies; industry associations and chambers of commerce; policymakers at local, state, federal and international levels; researchers, engineers and designers; investors and sponsors; community organisations.
